General Manager Property Risk & Compliance – Risk Sydney

The General Manager Property Risk & Compliance role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer, The Star Sydney and supports the property operations teams to manage risk with a specific focus on assisting accountable business owners to identify and manage risks and to successfully meet obligations under relevant regulations and legislation.    

This is a fantastic opportunity where you can drive the promotion and implementation of a risk aware culture across our Sydney property.

 

A few of your responsibilities: 

  • Support The Star Sydney’s accountable business owners to identify and assess material risks and key controls to effectively mitigate risks within risk appetite; and to raise risks or potential risks that may be outside risk appetite
  • Support the development and design of controls according to Group Risk frameworks and assess of the effectiveness of risk framework, policies, ICMs and SOPs to drive continuous improvement
  • Test controls and identify control improvements and support investigation of root cause of material incidents and issues
  • Provide a view of residual risk exposure, adherence to risk framework, policies, ICMs and SOPs as well as emerging trends or insights as applicable and relevant for The Star Sydney
  • Provide risk and compliance training for key stakeholders across The Star Sydney
  • Provide risk aggregation and reporting for The Star Sydney, leading the content creation and agenda setting for The Star Sydney Risk Committee and the risk components of The Star Sydney Subsidiary Board meetings
  • Manage a team of risk professionals supporting their professional development

 

What we will be looking for: 

  • 10+ years of experience in a risk management, governance or strategic role in a casino / gaming environment, financial institution, corporation or government agency
  • Strong understanding of relevant statutory compliance and reporting requirements and ability to effectively manage governance and stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated success in influencing, leading and managing others
  • Experience in design, implementation and management of risk and compliance management processes
  • Tertiary studies in a subject which requires a high level of critical analysis and independent research is desirable, e.g. Auditing, Business, Law, Economics, Accounting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including detailed reports and presentations. Understanding/implementing business drivers for problem solving

You take a proactive approach and seek improvements across the full gamut of your responsibilities, striving to provide better outcomes for individuals and the organisation.  

Your role will be pivotal in shaping our approach to, and management of, risk across The Star Sydney.
